As a parent, it's inevitable... I want to shelter my children from pain. It's just natural to want to do so. Why cause or inflict unnecessary pain? It just doesn't make sense. However, knowing Christ means I don't have to run from fear or trouble. I can embrace them knowing Jesus has overcome the world for me. I have comfort in Him. I have eternal life in Him.
Because of Jesus I'm "ok" with allowing my children to experience pain, to be exposed to the darkness of this world because I've relinquished my position as the ultimate provider of their safety. I am not their safety net...Jesus is. The more opportunities I have to make sure they know He's the one they can count on, the better. He is the light of the world.
