Fly Trap

Gabriella is a lover of all things big and small, including flies. Although spring has just begun we have drawn quite a few of those guys into the house. The flies that have made their way in are at least three to four sizes bigger than the normal housefly. (Eeekk!) Either way, Gabriella can't fathom the thought of a fly loosing its life so it was conveniently appropriate that she stumble upon a way to catch flies without harming them and allowing them to escape back into the world where they came from. 

So it was, one day that Gabriella noticed a fly had flew into the screen of an open window in the dining room. She walked over and closed the window leaving him buzzing around between it and the glass window pane. She stood there thinking of ways she could help the fly escape when all of a sudden it did just that. She was unaware of it at the time but there was (is) a tiny hole, large enough for an insect to escape, in the top left hand side of the screen. The fly had made its way back into the wide, wide world where it belonged. Gabriella was so happy for that little (big) fly! 

The fly trap was the first story she told daddy about when he got home from work that day, ranking itself among the most exciting of things that happened. 

Gabriella is very proud to have now saved the life of three flies. I caught a picture of the kiddos observing fly number three. It took quite a while for it to escape but sure enough, it did.
