We love Gillis Hill. We love picking strawberries in the summer and taking wagon rides in the fall. We love visiting the rye maze in the spring and corn maze in the fall. We love stopping by for ice cream and taking leisurely walks around the farm visiting the animals.
Today we had the opportunity to participate in an official field trip at Gillis Hill with a few other homeschoolers from the area. It was no surprise that we LOVED it!

We watched a video titled "A Day on the Farm" that was made roughly 20 years ago for the very farmer presenting it to us. He was the star in the movie as a young boy, showing all of us what a day on the farm would be like. I value the opportunity it presented my little ones, who may never know what it is/was really like to live on a farm, see farm life though the eyes of a child. Very informative and entertaining!

We loved getting an up close and personal look at a few of Gillis Hill's farm animals.
The puppet show was HILARIOUS!
We took a trip back in time as we toured the farm. Here we were learning all about how people used to wash clothes before there were washing machines and dryers. We also learned all about a well and how to draw water.
I left feeling like I needed to repent over complaining about laundry piling up.

Remembering that there were not any grocery stores around, we learned about how important it was to maintain a garden vegetables.
We had a wonderful ride in a covered wagon all the way around the farm
and ended our time with lunch and...
ice cream! We can't visit Gillis Hill without getting ice cream!
