Grey Seals Puppet Show

We try our very best to make it to the library for preschool story time every Wednesday and for the past few weeks our story teller, Mrs. Debbie, has been reminding us not to miss out on the up and coming Gray Seals Puppet Show.

Well, after a bit of thought, we decided to go for it even though it was on a Tuesday, not a Wednesday, which meant it called for one more trip out for the week. It's not always easy getting everyone ready and out of the house.  Actually I'll be honest...it's exhausting but after it's said and done and we're we need to be, it's almost always worth it.  I'm also very thankful that the library is relatively close to our house so that afterwards, no matter how well or not so well the trip went, the safety of home is just a few minutes away.

Anyway, we did go and (thank God) it was one of those experiences that went really well and was totally worth it. :)

The puppet show was inspired by The Children's Book of Virtues.

A fun, entertaining puppet show about virtues?!? Yes, please!  (Woohooo! Insert mommy doing a happy dance here!)

The Tortoise and the Hare  A lesson in diligence

Such a classic story!
This was definitely Gabriella and Mikey's favorite story. I feel like they enjoyed it the most because they understood it the best. They learned that "fastest is not always bestest". :)

Please A lesson in manners

Everyone has a please...
This story was really cute! Mommy definitely really appreciated it. It was a great reminder that we all have a please in our mouths somewhere and need to be using it.

Why Frog and Snake Never Play Together A lesson in tolerance
A great story about friendship.

The Little Hero of Holland A lesson in perseverance
I'm not sure they followed the plot of this story but nonetheless I know they were really interested in how the cute little puppet girl saved her town.

Look at how focused...

We really enjoyed our front row seats. They were truly captivated.
I had to take this picture not only to remember how enthralled they were with the production but also to remind Gabriella how incredibly large her heart was (is) even at such a young age.

I've been talking with Gabriella a lot about how important it is to talk kindly to people you are near to in public. We've talked about how to introduce yourself to someone and the kinds of questions to ask in hopes to create a conversation with them.

This was the perfect opportunity to reinforce some of those teachings so I quietly suggested to her that she introduce herself to her neighbor. After she did so and her neighbor did the same Gabriella, with out the least bit of hesitation, covered her new friend up with her beloved blanket. Oh, this mamma's heart nearly explodes when she does things like that.

I'm so glad we decided to go.  It was a wonderful experience.
